The peppery rose detail in his description is such a clever touch—it makes the portrait feel alive, like you can almost catch a whiff of it. I hung this in my reading nook and find myself glancing at it mid-page, wondering what his wife’s story really is.
His wife being utterly indifferent to him makes the whole portrait hilarious—I keep laughing at the irony every time I glance at it. The rose fragrance detail is such a clever touch, too. Beautifully painted and a great conversation piece for my study.
